Whitehorse claims this is one of the world's largest weather vanes. You won't get an argument from me! This is a Douglas DC-3, known also as the "Gooney Bird." This was the workhorse of the 1930s and nearly all commercial aircraft were DC-3s. At the end of the 1980s, more than 1000 were still flying.
This plane has a length of 64 feet, 5.5 inches and a wingspan of 95 feet. In 981, after four years of restoration work, CF-CPY was raised on a pedestal. It is perfectly balanced so moves with the wind, which George and I can verify. Jaimie Hall Bruzenak Photo by George Bruzenak
