Are you relying on having Wi-Fi at an RV park or a coffee shop? Before you pay your money, make sure you can get a signal at your assigned site. We always ask for a site with strong Wi-Fi to begin with, but checking it first makes sense. You'll find that within an RV park, there may be places that get a weak signal or no signal at all. Near the office is usually a better location unless they broadcast the signal from several locations throughout the park. A Wi-Fi signal detector can save you from getting your computer out and running. See "Best Wi-Fi Signal Finder Yet" for several recommendations.
If you are going to a coffee shop, check to see if there are plugs for laptops before buying your coffee - and that the Wi-Fi is free. Otherwise, you may be moving on to another shop or having to end your session prematurely because your battery ran out.
RVers can make do with finding a Wi-Fi signal as they travel if they don't need access every day. If your RV lifestyle or RV retirement includes needing regular Internet access, having some means of getting on yourself, such as an Air Card, modem or satellite Internet, will be worth the money spent. If not, go for free but check before you pay! Jaimie Hall Bruzenak
