At A.M. Best's Consumer Insurance Center, there is an article, "Insurance you didn't know you have," that suggests that your insurance might cover things you wouldn't expect. They name policies that cover these, but you could check with your insurance and see if they are covered in yours. And, when you shopping for insurance the next time, see if they include these benefits. Some of these are:
- Electronic data restoration - from natural events or a virus
- Forged checks or counterfeit money
- Theft from your auto
- Damage to a tombstone
- Theft of a camera on vacation or your RV travels
- Identity theft
- Discount on massages if ordered by your doctor
In some cases coverage might come under a different policy than you'd expect. Some, like identity theft protection, are included as part of a policy; other companies have an optional policy you can purchase. Deductibles may or may not apply.
