When you enter a new state with your RV, if you are towing, find out any laws that are in effect. For example, the maximum speed for any vehicle towing another in California is 55 mph. That means a truck towing a trailer or a motorhome towing a toad vehicle. California also has lane restrictions. Vehicles towing must stay in the extreme right lane for a road with up to three lanes each way and the right two lanes if there are more lanes. They can move over one lane to pass but then must move back. They cannot exceed the speed limit when passing. If you are making a turn or the highways splits, you can make an exception to the right-lane rule.
When you enter California, you will see signs advising you of the towing speed limit. You can also check this site- TowingWorld.com - for more regulations for each state. Weight, width and length can be restricted. Auxiliary brakes may be required. Some states allow triple towing, many don't.
Remember, ignorance of the law is no excuse and will not keep you from being cited! Jaimie Hall Bruzenak
